
Ninety one of the top 100 players will compete for $1.5 million at Wilshire Country Club
MAR. 18, 2019 - LOS ANGELES, CA – Ninety one of the top 100 players on the LPGA’s money list have made early commitments to play in the HUGEL-AIR PREMIA LA Open, tournament organizers announced today. The event will be held April 24–28, 2019, at iconic Wilshire Country Club.
"We are thrilled to host one of the strongest fields on the LPGA schedule and look forward to seeing the game's best players at Wilshire Country Club this April," said Tournament Chairman Sung Bum Hong.
Highlights among the early commitments include the following:
14 of the last 15 major winners, including Ariya Jutanugarn, Danielle Kang, Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko and Anna Nordqvist.
Every season-ending money leader since 2010, highlighted by Inbee Park, Stacy Lewis and Yani Tseng.
Every winner of the Race to the CME, the LPGA’s season-long points contest that began in 2014, including 2017 winner Lexi Thompson.
All eight players who have held the top spot in the Rolex World Rankings since 2011, including Shanshan Feng, So-Yeon Ryu and current World No. 1 Sung Hyun Park.
Every winner in 2019, including current money list leader Nelly Korda.
Other notable early commitments include World Golf Hall of Famer Juli Inkster, as well as crowd favorites such as Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Cristie Kerr and Christina Kim. Natalie Gulbis, one of the most popular players in LPGA history, will play in the tournament on sponsor exemption for the second year.
The final field of 144 players will compete over 72 holes at Wilshire Country Club for a share of the $1.5 million purse. The tournament will be televised live on Golf Channel.
